Club members worked hard pulling a giant builders sack full of leaves across the wood to a quite corner to complete probably the best hedgehog house in all of Haxby. It has a front door too small for foxes and cats to get in, layers of wood and leaves for a snug warm feel and lots of concerned 'guards' volunteering to keep noisy children out! While we worked we learnt a bit about hibernating and which food was safe to leave out for hedgehogs. (Cat or dog food and fresh water yes, bread and milk no!) We usually get a few hedgehogs in the school grounds over winter so we hope this fabulous house will attract some again.
